Who is HCA?

It all began with one hospital in Nashville, Tenn. Frustrated that they could not provide health care of the absolute highest quality due to financial limitations, Dr. Thomas Frist Sr., Dr. Thomas Frist Jr. and Jack C. Massey formed Hospital Corporation of America in 1968 as a management company to provide hospitals with the resources necessary to improve healthcare services and keep medical technology up to date.

Still headquartered in Nashville, the company is now known as HCA and has since grown to become a strong network of locally managed affiliate facilities, including 165 hospitals, 112 outpatient centers and numerous operations offices in 20 states and England.

While we've expanded, we've remained true to the vision of our company's founders: Above all else, we are committed to the care and improvement of human life. Expert care, ethical conduct, innovative technologies, and best practices are the core of our resources. Through these, we strive to deliver high-quality, cost-effective health care in the communities we serve.
